The Literock Free GTX from Meindl, like its predecessor, is already a first-class approach shoe.However, it has been specifically improved to offer an even better feel for the rock beneath your feet.
The approach shoe is slightly flatter overall, especially in the upper area, and this is also evident at first glance in the sole construction.The lacing is also positioned a bit further forward.This is reminiscent of climbing shoes, so you can lace the shoe up to the toe area and achieve an optimal fit.
Secure on the Foot
The fact that your foot stays securely in the shoe isn't just thanks to the climbing lacing.The low shoe is also equipped with the Variofix system.A thin, yet extremely durable steel cable runs around the heel, keeping it in place even on very steep climbs.Weather protection is also provided, as the Literock Free features a waterproof yet breathable Gore-Tex membrane.The necessary robustness is also ensured: the suede is protected by a circumferential rubber ridge.This means that even missteps on rough terrain and sharp-edged rock are no problem for the high-quality material.
The Literock Free uses EVA as its midsole, with a total of three different cushioning wedges.Thanks to their different degrees of hardness, they not only offer excellent cushioning but also optimally support the foot in its rolling motion.A particularly grippy Vibram 3 Alpin Light outsole offers the best possible grip, which is further enhanced by a special climbing zone in the toe area.
